We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Cook to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in culinary arts and food
preparation, with a keen understanding of food safety practices. As Cook, you will play a vital role in ensuring that our kitchen operates smoothly and
efficiently, while delivering high-quality meals to our residents and supporting our kitchen staff.


Responsibilities

  • Prepare, cook and serve a variety of dishes, according to established recipes and standards
  • Assist in meal preparation, ensuring that all ingredients are fresh and properly stored
  • Home baking and traditional home cooking
  • Maintain high standard levels of cleanliness and organisation within the kitchen, adhering to food safety regulations at all times
  • Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure timely service during peak hours
  • Help in the planning of menus and daily specials, considering seasonal ingredients and customer preferences
  • Monitor food stock levels and assist in ordering supplies, as needed
  • Provide shift cover, as and when required
  • Participate in training new kitchen staff on cooking techniques and safety practices


Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Cook in a nursing home or similar setting is preferred, however, not essential
  • Strong knowledge of culinary techniques, food preparation, and presentation skills
  • Food Safety Certificate (preferably Level 2 or higher)
  • Familiarity with food safety standards and regulations
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well within a team
  • Ability and understanding to complete daily record keeping paperwork
  • A passion for cooking and creating delicious meals that delight our residents
