We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Cook to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in culinary arts and food
preparation, with a keen understanding of food safety practices. As Cook, you will play a vital role in ensuring that our kitchen operates smoothly and
efficiently, while delivering high-quality meals to our residents and supporting our kitchen staff.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, cook and serve a variety of dishes, according to established recipes and standards
- Assist in meal preparation, ensuring that all ingredients are fresh and properly stored
- Home baking and traditional home cooking
- Maintain high standard levels of cleanliness and organisation within the kitchen, adhering to food safety regulations at all times
- Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure timely service during peak hours
- Help in the planning of menus and daily specials, considering seasonal ingredients and customer preferences
- Monitor food stock levels and assist in ordering supplies, as needed
- Provide shift cover, as and when required
- Participate in training new kitchen staff on cooking techniques and safety practices
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Cook in a nursing home or similar setting is preferred, however, not essential
- Strong knowledge of culinary techniques, food preparation, and presentation skills
- Food Safety Certificate (preferably Level 2 or higher)
- Familiarity with food safety standards and regulations
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well within a team
- Ability and understanding to complete daily record keeping paperwork
- A passion for cooking and creating delicious meals that delight our residents
