Job Summary:

We are seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and NMC-registered Registered Nurse (RGN or RMN) to join our experienced care team at Pitlair House, Fife. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality, person-centred nursing care to elderly residents, including those with dementia and complex care needs.


Location: Pitlair House Nursing Home, Bow of Fife
Job Type: £19.55 per hour during probation, increasing to £21.50 after successful completion of probationary period
Salary: £19.55 per hour during probation, increasing to £21.50 after successful completion of probationary period
Reports To: Operations Manager / Clinical Manager

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide clinical care and  support to residents in line with current NMC standards and the home's policies and procedures.
  • Administer medications and  treatments safely and effectively.
  • Assess, plan, implement, and  evaluate individualised care plans in collaboration with residents and their families.
  • Monitor and respond to  changes in residents' conditions, escalating where necessary.
  • Work collaboratively with  the wider multidisciplinary team including GPs, physiotherapists, and social workers.
  • Supervise and mentor care  assistants, promoting best practice in patient care.
  • Maintain accurate and  up-to-date documentation and records.
  • Ensure compliance with  health and safety regulations, safeguarding policies, and CQC standards.
  • Act as a key worker and  advocate for allocated residents.
  • Demonstrate a strong  understanding of dementia care best practices and deliver compassionate, tailored support.

Requirements:

  • Valid NMC registration (RGN   or RMN) – essential.
  • Right to work in the UK - essential
  • Proven clinical nursing  experience, ideally in a care home or similar setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Compassionate, patient, and person-centred approach.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and under pressure.
  • Awareness and understanding of dementia care  principles.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of current best practices in elderly care.

Desirable:

  • Experience using electronic care planning systems.
  • Completion of relevant training in wound care, catheterisation.
  • Mentorship or leadership training.
